A Somogyi-könyvtár 2008 októberében emléktábla- koszorúzással és kiállítással
emlékezett meg Vasváry Ödön születésének 120. évfordulójáról. Október
27-én Vasváry Ödön tisztelői megkoszorúzták a neves kutató szülőháza
(Szeged, Mátyás tér 19.) falán lévő emléktáblát. Ugyanaznap nyílt meg
az Amerikai magyarok krónikása című kiállítás, amelyet dr. Kontra
Miklós egyetemi tanár, az MTA Nyelvtudományi Intézetének tudományos
főmunkatársa nyitott meg. A tárlat, amely október 24-től december 17-ig
látható a Somogyi-könyvtárban, Vasváry Ödön életét, munkásságát és
gyűjteményét mutatja be az érdeklődőknek. A Somogyi-könyvtár 2003 végén
kezdte el az egyedülálló gyűjtemény digitalizálását. Az eltelt öt év
alatt a gyűjtemény egyik fő részének digitalizálása, több mint 350
irattartó, készült el. A fennmaradó rész (mintegy száz irattartó)
befejezését 2009-re tervezzük. |
In October 2008, the Somogyi Library commemorated the 120th anniversary of Edmund Vasvary's birth with wreath-laying and an exhibition.
On October 27, admirers of Edmund Vasvary wreathed the memorial plaque,
which can be found on the house of birth (Mátyás tér /square/ 19,
Szeged) of the famous researcher. On the same day an exhibition
entitled "Chronicler of Hungarian Americans", was opened by Prof. Dr.
Miklós Kontra, Hungarian Academy of Sciences Research Institute for
Linguistics. The exhibition, which represents documents about Edmund
Vasvary's life, activity and give a selection from his collection, can
be seen from October 24 to December 17, at the Somogyi Library. The
Somogyi Library started the digitalization of the unique Collection at
the end of 2003. During the five years one of the main parts of the
Collection, more than 350 volumes, were completed. We plan to finish
the remaining part (approximately 100 volumes) in 2009.
